Wrath Withheld Grace Extends

Bedtime

“Bedtime by Maisie Aletha Smikle https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/10479784

Tick tock tick tock
Says my bunny clock
It's half past nine o’clock
The ship has already dock

It's bedtime
It's time to unwind
And go to bed
My mommy said

So I take my bath
And brush my teeth
With a night cap over my hair
I hop into my night gown

Kneel down
Bow my head
And clasp my hands
To pray

Dear Lord You keep me when am awake
Please keep me while I sleep
Mommy comes in and peek
Picks me up and tucks me in

Dims the light
Kiss me goodnight
Read a story
And sings me a happy lullaby

Mommy reads the story of a sheep
That didn't want to sleep
So the shepherd counted flocks
Till it was way past ten o’clock

And the sheep fell fast asleep
Mommy sings a lullaby
My little one my sweet little one
Your warm bed beckons

Sweet peaceful sleep
And happy lovely dreams
Goodnight sunshine I love you dearly
Sleep tight see you in the morning light”

Jolly Marchers

“Jolly Marchers by Maisie Aletha Smikle

Dam Dam Didley Doe
Dee Daw Didley Doe
Dee Dam Doe
Fa So La Ti Doe

Animals in a row
Prancing as they go
Jiggling and Wiggling
Tails and head bobbing

Mice on drums
Elephants on flute
Zebras blare the trumpets
Squirrels blow trombones

Skunks get funky on clarinets
Bees on violins
Hogs on guitar
Parrots and crickets sing Aha Aha

Vultures cheer
Mosquitoes twirl
Wings clapping and flapping
Heads go up and down bobbing

Marching and skanking
Rocking and bobbing
Wiggling and singing
Dee Daw Didley Doe

This is not a circus
There are no clowns
There is not a palace
There are no crowns

On and on they go
Monkeys in tow
Tigers in bow
Onlookers stare and glow

Donkey takes the podium
As conductor of the band
Waving his marching wand
The band comes to a stand

Mule takes a stool
And sits in the cool
They have reached the bend
Where the march ends

The ants were nesting
So they missed the fest
Some got on tambourines
And insist they must join in

The ants jiggle and wiggle
Some play the fiddle
Dancing and singing
Didley Dam Didley Doe”

Halloween

“Halloween by Maisie Aletha Smikle

Halloween Halloween
Fun for the teen and preteen
Fun for the queen
And those in between

Halloween Halloween
Don't be mean
A treat for you
And your friends too

We are not naughty
We are nice
We like candied apples
With lots of spice

Decked in costumes out we go
Two dressed as bushy tail foxes in frocks
One dressed in a hat with beard and locks
Singing reggae to the tune of the blues

Knock knock
Give us treats we don’t like tricks
Give us chocolate and candy
That's so sweet fine and dandy

We’ll take our sweets to the prairie
And trade them with a fairy call Mary
Who is very cheery
And not at all contrary

Fairy Mary return all teeth
Fallen out from eating too much sweets
Polished and bright to chew just right
We’ll eat more fruits noon or night”

Prescilla

“Prescilla by Maisie Aletha Smikle

My name is Prescilla
I am a gorilla
Cuddly as a pillow
Fluffy and mellow

Am not king kong
Am not queen kong
Am not prince kong
Nor princess kong

That roars bing bong
And plays ping pong
Has sharp fangs
And wears a thong

Am Prescilla
The gorilla
Easy as a feather
Gentle as a flower

Am big as a bear
Kind as a deer
Strong as a lion
Sweet as a lamb

I pat my chest
For no contest
But to breathe at best
While giving thanks to the King

Not king kong
That roars bing bong
Plays ping pong
And wears a thong

But to my Creator
Who created me a gorilla
For His own pleasure
He took good measure

To make an extraordinary creature
Like me…
A gorilla…
Called Prescilla”

Forest

“Forest  https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/10470342

by Maisie Aletha Smikle

In the forest there lived a man
Who was chased from his land
They took his toil
As their spoil

They wine and dine
And drank his fine wine
They took his precious coin
And bank it like a mine

Like pirates they hoard and stash
Heaping loot on top of loot
No one dare to ask
From whence such treasure came

But took taxes, bribes and gifts
Like Christmas comes on shifts
The looters chimed and said
We are not Robin Wood

Who took from the rich
And gave to the poor
So the poor could have more
Instead we are wood robins

That take from the poor
And give to the rich
So the rich can have more
O what a stitch

While the wealthy is richer
Another is that much poorer
Robin Wood is outlawed
And wood robin is in the law

Indeed it is flawed
Robin Wood is wood robin
The spoils only shift
From the poor to the rich”

Rose Garden

“Rose Garden by Maisie Aletha Smikle

In the garden roses bloom
Blossom sprout and loom
With prickly stalks they bud
Red white and pink rosebuds

Petals open petals fall
To grace the garden floor
Take a midnight walk
And inhale petals on the stalk

As dawn draws near
Dewdrops form round and clear
Trickling down the petals like a tear
Cascading down the rosebud stalks

Landing at it's root
Watering little sprouts
So tiny buds may rise
From the garden floor

Springing up to bloom
Petals of pink white and red
To cover the garden bed
And their sweet aroma spread

Roses of good cheer
Roses for poses
Roses I bring
To make you sing

To bring you happiness
To bring you love
To bring you joy
And to bring you peace”
