Mastering Letters and Numbers https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/10463934
by Maisie Aletha Smikle
Get ready
You are ready
I am ready
We are ready
We must earn
So let's learn
To count to ten
And use a pen
1, 2 oh no you got boo boo
3, 4 we can do more
5, 6 it's half past six
7, 8 we shan’t be late
9, 10 let's count again
To write a note
Or give a quote
You’ll need your numbers
And letters too
To succeed
Books we’ll read
Do good deed
And never speed
ABCDEFG... O my g...
HIJKLMNOP... I ran to pee
QRSTUV... We sip some tea
WXY and Z ...Let’s go and zzzz
I’ll come calling in the morning
And we'll practice till in the evening
For we shan’t give up on learning or achieving
Nor our goal to succeed in
Counting from one to ten
And writing letters with a pen
To learn we must from dawn to dusk
For education is a must”

Splashing Fireworks
by Maisie Aletha Smikle
Like earthly stars
Fireworks lit the skies
Flashing in magnificent grandeur
Showing off Its beauty and its splendor
Like the colors of the rainbow
Sparks flew some violet blue
Swimming floating gliding
Like starry streams colliding
Joining in an ocean of air
Then spectacularly disappear
Sprinkling glows and glitters
Of shining starry litters
Glowing and hovering gracefully in the air
We sat on a chair
And watched and cheer
To behold fireworks so dear
Mystical magical elliptical
Burst of lights so hypnotical
Splendidly arrayed beams
Appear in glowing streams
Showers of light with its mist
Mystically disperse without a twist
As sporadic lights focus in a parabolic embrace
To disseminate in space
A precious sight and delight
It is to behold fireworks dark at night
And to glimpse the bright
And beautiful light
Oh such graceful outlay
Of lights in an array
Its beauty to portray
The fireworks on display”

The Switch by Maisie Aletha Smikle
The day animals flip
Was the day humans trip
And humans switch
Without a twitch
And transform into beasts
And animals transform into humans making bread from yeast
From the north to the south from the west to the east
It was a grand feast
Animals churn butter and flour
Making dough every hour
Pounding and kneading
Humans come pleading
We have switched
Without a twitch
Now we are in a ditch
And won’t get rich
The animals knead and said
The planet you had from creation
Is a total malfunction
Everything is topsy turvy and out of function
You said you have gone to the moon
But you have driven families out of their cocoon
You are not civilized
To realize
This vast planet is a gifted loan
And not your own
You should have returned families to their cocoons
Cocoons that were theirs and not your own
You have no business on the moon
Mars Pluto Jupiter or Neptune
You were given one planet
Not two or three or infinite
The animals have taken over
Your time to rule is over
We will never drive a family from their cocoon
Or dare to go to the moon Mars Pluto Jupiter or Neptune
We have enough to do on planet earth
It's almost ruined to the dearth
We will reinstate clarity to its seat
And remove chaos from clarity's seat

Love
by Maisie Aletha Smikle https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/10459372
Love is like a dove
Descending from above
Pure generous and genuine
Kind gentle patient and divine
Love knows no bounds
As it abounds
Love must be coupled with self control
Less it rolls out of control
Love is good and can never be bad
Unless you love what isn't good
Lovers of the good
Have withstood
Trials and tests
For love must persist
To conquer hate
And not abate or dissipate
Love is kind
And not unkind
Love is not blind
Love looks intuitively deep to find its kind
Love sees beyond the exterior
Love examines the interior
Love sees beyond pimples
Blemishes faults and wrinkles
Love is good
Love is not bad
Love hates evil
Evil hates love
Love and evil do not go hand in hand
Love good abstain from evil and do no wrong
Only love will stand the test of time
Patiently persevere kind and always on time

Life is a Gift
by Maisie Aletha Smikle
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/10457465
“Life is a Gift
by Maisie Aletha Smikle
Life is not strife
Put away the knife
Life is a gift
For both the fit and unfit
Don't dis it
And miss it
Don't step aside
To commit suicide
That is murder
Can't you tell
If you live you'll be put in a cell
If you die you'll go to hell
You want to be in heaven
But instead you're in hell
Hell on earth
The place of birth
Life is a gift don't dis it
Put away the gun
That's no fun
Go for a run or watch the sun
So you want to rush to heaven
Life on earth is hell
But instead you'll land in hell
For killing yourself well
They are bad
They make you sad
You are good and they are bad
Don't get it twisted and feel bad
Life is a gift
Don't dis it
And miss it
Live it…”

Spot
by Maisie Aletha Smikle https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/10456087
Spot looks Dalmatian
And might even be a Martian
He likes to cuddle
And play in a puddle
Spot is polka dot
Cotton white and velvet black
Astute smooth and immaculate
Better than a box of chocolate
He cushions all
Before a fall
And stands tall
To catch a ball
At the cat Spot barks
When he goes for walks
Sniff sniff he detects a rat
He must get that
His nose to the ground
Tail wagging like a hound
His ears propped
And huge eyes popped
From the leash Spot dashed
In a twinkling flash
Like Tom and Jerry
Spot leapt in a hurry
He dug deep in the sand
Till he could stand
Sniff sniff the rat is gone
And Spot is worn and all forlorn
Spot needs a bone
And not sand stone
So back Spot went away from the pebbles
To catch some floating bubbles
Spot ate his bone
And sat on a stone
Gazing at the distant sun in the horizon
He mused for treats he could have a dozen”
